Business Immigration
Strategic immigration counsel for employers, multinational companies, and the professionals they depend on.
Comprehensive Business Immigration Services
The U.S. immigration system offers multiple pathways for employers seeking to bring talented workers to the United States and for professionals seeking to advance their careers here. Strasser Asatrian LLC represents both sides of the employer-employee relationship across all major employment-based visa categories. For individuals at the very top of their field, our EB-1A extraordinary ability practice may offer an even faster path to permanent residence without an employer sponsor.
Nonimmigrant (Temporary) Visas
H-1B – Specialty Occupation Workers
The H-1B is the most widely used temporary work visa for professionals in specialty occupations—typically requiring at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. We assist employers with H-1B cap registrations, initial petitions, extensions, amendments for job or location changes, and transfers between employers. We also advise on cap-exempt petitions for universities, research institutions, and nonprofit entities.
L-1 – Intracompany Transferees
The L-1A (managers and executives) and L-1B (specialized knowledge employees) allow multinational companies to transfer qualifying employees to U.S. operations. We handle individual L-1 petitions and blanket L-1 programs for large multinational employers, and advise on strategies to transition L-1A holders to EB-1C green cards.
O-1 – Individuals of Extraordinary Ability or Achievement
The O-1A (science, education, business, athletics) and O-1B (arts, film, television) provide temporary status for individuals who have risen to the top of their field. Unlike the EB-1A green card, the O-1 requires an employer or agent sponsor, but the evidentiary standard is similar. We frequently pair O-1 petitions with concurrent EB-1A green card petitions.
TN – USMCA Professionals
Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professions may enter the U.S. as TN nonimmigrants. We advise on TN eligibility, prepare TN support letters, and assist with TN admission at the border or port of entry.
E-2 – Treaty Investor Visa
The E-2 allows nationals of treaty countries to invest a substantial amount in a U.S. business and direct its operations. We assist entrepreneurs with E-2 applications, business plan review, and renewals.
Permanent Residence (Green Cards)
EB-1A – Extraordinary Ability (Self-Petition)
For individuals at the very top of their field. No job offer or labor certification required. Learn more about EB-1A →
EB-1B – Outstanding Professors and Researchers
For academic researchers and professors who are recognized internationally as outstanding in their field and have at least three years of experience in teaching or research. Requires an employer sponsor but no PERM labor certification.
EB-1C – Multinational Executives and Managers
For executives and managers of multinational companies who have been employed abroad in a qualifying managerial or executive capacity for at least one of the three years preceding the petition. No PERM required. Often pursued after L-1A status.
EB-2 National Interest Waiver
Individuals with advanced degrees or exceptional ability may petition for a green card in the national interest, waiving the usual job offer and labor certification requirements. We have obtained NIW approvals for researchers, physicians working in underserved areas, engineers, entrepreneurs, and public health professionals.
PERM Labor Certification (EB-2 & EB-3)
The Program Electronic Review Management (PERM) process is required for most EB-2 and all EB-3 green cards. It involves a rigorous recruitment process to demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. We manage the full PERM process, from prevailing wage determination through filing with the Department of Labor, and continue through the I-140 petition and adjustment of status.
